Everybody wears a mask, the camouflage of fitting in when really all that is ever desired comes in the form of standing out and having fun, even if it comes with a cost. In Tom Stuart’s dynamic play, based upon Josh Kilmer-Purcell’s book, I Am Not Myself These Days the mask of illusion is only worn to be loved and it is love of all excessive things that carries the play at the Playhouse Studio into a realm of perfectly captured hedonism and glittering prowess.

Brutally Moving Edinburgh Hit, I Am Not Myself These Days, Coming To Liverpool.

At the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe the extraordinarily compelling tour-de-force performance of Tom Stuart, in his own adaptation of the best-selling memoir, became one of the talking points of the Festival. Audiences were visibly moved by the story of alcoholic drag queen Aqua desperately trying to make a relationship work with Jack, a high-class rent boy addicted to crack. As part of a U.K. tour the play is coming to Liverpool Playhouse from the 2nd-6th February.

The life of Bill Rohan was always going to be exceptional, especially when he is the alter ego of British film maker John Boorman, it just always seemed a shame that the account of his life seemed to stop in mid flight in the superb 1987 British film Hope and Glory.
