It seems that in the more cynical days of the 21st Century, to offer yourself up as having creativity run through you is too paint a target on your back and shout loudly, please kick me, please bring me down. Regardless of your ability, if you have the courage to offer a piece of your soul in the name of art then surely you should be allowed the brief respite of illusion.

When the last Mission: Impossible film was released there would arguably have been many that silently sobbed into their pillow throughout the night after having watched it and who would vow silent vengeance should the world see a fifth instalment of the seemingly well past, over worn, near threadbare series of films.

The demand for some sort of history is never truly satisfied or sated and after many years of watching Sky have a tight grip on historical dramas in screening of The Tudors, the B.B.C. finally get to dip their feet in the murky waters of the British Royal family in the adaptation of Philippa Gregory’s The White Queen.

As Janice Long, one of the legends of British broadcasting took to the stage at The Dome on Renshaw Street, the waiting was finally over and a room packed with great and the good of local music started to enjoy the celebration of what makes Liverpool undoubtedly the world capital of music.
