A return to the screens for a detective series that has grown with stature as it progresses to exemplify the sense of charismatic fortitude required when placing two oddly matched people together in order to solve a murder, is as welcome as a sunny, cloudless day after a month of constant storms that threaten to overwhelm the population with a sense of permanent gloom and floods of grief.

Cast: Pixie Lott, Matt Barber, Victor McGuire, Katy Allen, Robert Calvert, Naomi Cranston, Charlie De Melo, Tim Francis, Andrew Joshi, Melanie La Barrie, Sevan Stephan, Andy Watkins.

Forget the comfortable situation employed by Hollywood, the sight of Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard turning the pages of a novel upside down so it almost becomes unrecognisable to the readers who made it much loved in the first place. When it comes to bringing a story to life, most of the time the truest form of sincere adaption comes from the theatre and the actors slogging their guts out, feeling the character’s skin and with the chance that that well loved story might turn out to be received as fickle and as erratic as electricity captured in a vacuum.

The dying days of the 1960s saw the start of the decline of the family holiday parks as the British remembered them. They were going to have to modernise or become ancient history; they were going to have to compete with the cheap family holidays that were becoming the norm as venues in Spain were becoming tourist traps for the British holidaymaker. What wouldn’t have helped is a murder on the doorstep and the police in the shape of crusty cove George Gently investigating and poking his methodical nose into every nook and cranny.

Lionel Richie, Tuskegee. Album Review.

Lionel Richie is one of the very best at what he does, if you want a ballad that moves people to tears then Lionel is your man, if you need a track that will get people up and out of their chairs and dancing, again Lionel is the artist you turn to. Even when he brings out, what is to all reasonable effects a greatest hits package with a twist, he still makes you feel a though as you have put on a warm, comfortable cardigan, the fire in your front room is enticing and homely and the news, for once is nothing but good.
