It was always inevitable, always going to happen at some point, perhaps in a galaxy not too far away but someone was always going to produce a prequel to the prequels and do it after all the sequels had been set near enough in Cordite. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the tale that all fans of the space saga has fully deserved, the one big hole that needed not just filling, but doing so with respect, with elegance and style and perhaps even with the odd nod to the Universe at large.

After nearly a decade of having arguably a more youthful outlook but for many, surely the more than capable, erudite and wonderfully strange Peter Capaldi is a return to what bought success for the programme in its 1970s heyday.

To follow up one of the classic stories of Doctor Who with something even better could never really happen but to come close, to get within a Tardis’ heartbeat of achieving that is still pretty special. Stephen Thompson made Journey To The Centre Of The Tardis have one big impression, one vital piece of the puzzle that had been hiding in plain sight come alive by doing something that no other writer had dared to do and that was to make the Doctor’s home the absolute star of the show.
