Twin Atlantic have come a long way in a really short space of time, having only formed in 2007, the band seem to have had the good fortune to be in the right place at the right time. The band have already supported the likes of Blink 182 and Biffy Clyro in the last couple of years and have quite rightly become very big on the festival map.

The band came to the Liverpool with a lot of expectation on behalf of a very vocal and hyped up crowd and the lads didn’t disappoint one bit.

Feeder have gone from Indie Rock heroes and not getting the credit they deserve to one of the best live acts that currently ply their trade in front of fans, new and old. With their style of whimsical musings disguised in heavy, brutal, pounding riffs, it is no wonder they have become household favourites.

Once Ian Prowse gets going there is very little that anyone can do to stop him, he has proved it time and time again with his band Amsterdam and before this as member of the now legendary Liverpool band Pele. In 1992, Pele released their debut album Fireworks. A generation has come and gone without hearing this album in full and it was fitting that Ian and Amsterdam gave one of the performances of their career.

The Wonderstuff have ploughed a trough so few bands have been able to emulate, let alone follow. With so few peers to have come from the area of formation, notably Pop Will Eat itself and to an extent Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, it is no wonder that Miles Hunt and the original members of the band carved a huge niche in the Midlands.

In 2010 the established new version of the band toured to critical success alongside Liverpool based Amsterdam, now it seems the band are hungry for more of the same.

If there’s one band that knows how to stir up passion for their no nonsense direct music then that band has to be The Stranglers. Even before the band came out on stage sections of the audience could be heard singing at full volume through a medley of some of the band’s greatest hits including the instrumental pieces of Waltz in Black to which the band came on stage to in the time honoured tradition.

The audience greeted the long awaited return of 80’s Synth Pop superstars Blancmange to Liverpool with the kind of noise you’d expect at the Liverpool Echo. It may have been two decades since Neil Arthur stood in front of a Scouse crowd but Liverpool music fans have long memories and the recollections of being entertained by Blancmange have long been smiled at.

The year 1979 may be remembered for many things, Pink Floyd’s eponymous album The Wall was released, Britain struggled to get going again after the winter of discontent and the political aftermath that followed and in Derry, Northern Ireland a group of lads released one of the finest debut albums ever recorded.

The Undertones have been quite rightly lauded by the likes of radio legend John Peel who famously loved Teenage Kicks so much that it made him cry and many bands and critics have praised the Undertones for their Punk/Rock feel and grasp of the eloquent use of the English language.

Ian McNabb is one of those Liverpool musicians that demands the affection of Liverpool audiences, from his days as one of three men to give the Liverpool Rock movement a timely boost in the form of the Icicle Works to his solo output which has thrilled his legions of fans and given Ian the status of one of Liverpool’s favourite sons.

For the second time in the space of six months Mike Peters strode onto the Liverpool Academy stage and wowed a crowd that for all intent purposes takes him to their heart as if he was from L1 and not from Prestatyn.

Back in January it was as lead vocalist for the reformed Big Country of which Mike was an avid fan and who was especially proud to front on the night as an invited guest for the much missed Stuart Adamson. On his return a few months later it was with his own band and one of the finest to come out of North Wales, The Alarm.

The weather outside was somewhat frightful, with Blondie’s fans finding every possible hiding place from the torrential August rain that had decided to fall well before the doors opening at the Academy. Inside it was a sauna, the gig having being sold out long before the night arrived, such is the pulling power of one of New Yorks finest ambassadors to music, they could have head lined for a week at the Liverpool o2 Academy and still have people clambering for tickets.
