On the 9th and 10th of March, Hope Street Theatre plays host to MT Productions as they present a full-length play that is a contemporary take on Christopher Marlowe’s 1593 tragic masterpiece, Edward II; it is reimagined for 21st century Merseyside.
Shortly after his ascension to the throne, King Edward II ensures his lover Gaveston returns from exile, lavishing him with titles and riches. Their all-consuming lust alienates Queen Isabella, makes enemies of his nobles, eclipses the law, and threatens to destroy the nation.
