Violence in Whitechapel is not a new phenomenon, nor is the grisly shadow one that has taken residence between the evil carried out by Jack the Ripper and the emergence of the Kray Twins, it is one that that has brewed for centuries and arguably makes the area outside of the walls of the City of London one of the most dynamic and interesting in the whole of the U.K.

There are moments when the general public must wonder what goes on in between the ears of those in charge of the B.B.C. when they allow quality drama such as Ripper Street to be disavowed, to be treated to the point of shame that the makers must wonder what exactly they did wrong except bring in respectable audiences and the shuddering heads of yet another television expose into the world of drunken antics of the young and the restless takes their place in the schedules.

Inspector George Gently: Gently Between Friends. Television Review.

Arguments between friends, especially life long ones, can be the source of much anger and hatred; yet somehow they blow over without much issue or ceremony, a drink and a proper handshake, one without descending into sarcasm and cynicism. It is the ones that don’t blow over, where hatred and jealousy become entwined and unable to be torn apart, that’s when the spectre of murder rears its ugly head and the free flowing nature of Gently Between Friends is disturbed.

Sherlock: His Last Vow (Series Three). Television Review.

Some things are just over a little too quickly. They are still magnificent, they keep you entertained and intrigued but the sense of having to wait for a lengthy period of time for a new series just as the action has reached a boiling point, a natural high of deduction, is far too much for some to bear.
