There can be no doubting Chris DeBurgh’s appeal and delight in performing to a crowd of fans, old and new alike, his amiable and very likeable character not only come across when he is talking to the audience about his life but also in the way he presents his music. Completely professional with just the right of Gaelic charm that has endeared him to audiences world-wide, even places where other artists’ would back away from playing, Chris DeBurgh makes sure that nobody is disappointed when they leave one of his sold out nights.

In the 80’s Dire Straits were by far one of the biggest bands on the planet. They were loved by people who just bought one album, adored by millions who had followed the band’s career and adulated and remembered for one particular song that had a cutting edge video, insanely brilliant riff attached to it and lyrics that resonated with an audience ready to throw off the shackles of the 1970’s.

Not content with releasing arguably the best album of 2011, it seems that The Waterboys will do anything to prove that they will be considered as the best live act to visit Liverpool this year.

WOW – A celebration of the Music, Lyrics & Dance of Kate Bush, Gig Review. Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

Above all else, Kate Bush’s music has endured beyond recognised boundaries as she releases albums that not only stand the test of time over and over again but also have sold phenomenally without any assistance that touring would bring.

There may have been the odd one or two in the audience, hardly believing their luck, that would have been in the audience the only time Kate Bush actually played in Liverpool and they would have been the only ones to be there over 30 years later from that date to hear the sensational talent of Maaike Breijman go through two sets of the most sensual, inspiring and classic music from one of the queens of British popular music.

Back to back renditions of classic albums can surely not be a bad thing to witness. When the albums are re-created in the full pomp and ceremony by Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson, then you know a night at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall listening to Thick as a Brick and its 2012 sequel Thick as a Brick 2 will be inspired and somewhat beautiful.

10cc, Gig Review. Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

L.S. Media Rating *****

Graham Gouldman is one of music’s nice guys and rather than adhering to the proverb of nice guys finishing last, it’s quite easy to see by looking at the faces of every audience member at every gig, that his, and that of 10cc, appeal and fortitude has seen his through to be one of the elder statesmen of the British music scene.

Much respected for his contribution to music across six decades, Graham Gouldman effortlessly plays the music that has thrilled generations of music fans and can have any crowd, no matter how fickle, stop and listen and ultimately love him.

Richard Marx, Inside My Head. Album Review.

When Richard Marx performed at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in 2011; it was easy to see, even to the untrained and blinkered casual observer, that the man and his music has touched so many lives in his 30 year sensational career.

Now the singer/songwriter has released an album, Inside My Head, that takes in songs from two of his recent albums, Emotional Remains and Sundown, some new material and some new recordings of the man’s biggest hits including Should Have Known Better, the epic story of Hazard and the song that Right Here Waiting, a song that can still knock more modern songs released into touch with its absolute depth of feeling and vocals that just are to die for.
