The arcade game to which this film takes its name and part of its premise, has all but been lost to the depths of time, a classic of the back street shops that held deep fascination for those who were brought up in an era when gaming was social, your attention divided between the now retro classic, the music and infectious beat and doing your best in front of a crowded room and the urging of friends behind your shoulder to beat the score set by local and undefeated champion of the local arcade.

It is not always about who has the best and the finest body of men to call upon, the biggest bombs or the most modern equipment that can win a war, it is sometimes, more often than not, about the one individual who can add something a little extra, the one who sees the picture in the theatre of war just a little differently and who can add the element of propaganda to the rallying call of the nation.

Such was the shape of the world in the 1950s that it was easier to mention in homes up and down the American political highway the issues surrounding Communism than it was to talk openly about the love shared between two women, that the so-called threat of Communism could be seen as a driving force of debate and yet to be a lesbian was something that was swept under so many carpets that it enjoyed an abundance of innuendo and implication.
