Rise Records latest signing Emily’s Army will be embarking on a U.K. tour this July, to coincide with the release of their second album Lost at Seventeen and will perform at the 02 Academy in Liverpool on Wednesday 17th July.
The band formed in 2004 and soon found inspiration in Max and Cole’s teenage cousin Emily, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 1998 and has suffered from the disease her entire life. In tribute, the band adopted the name Emily’s Army, which is also the moniker for a fundraising organization in their cousin’s honour. At a time when young bands are homogenized and tailor made for consumption and eventual regurgitation, Emily’s Army is a breath of fresh air.
