Let the good times roll…and eventually they did, it just seemed to take a while for the legendary Dr. John and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall audience to find each other.

There is never a doubt that Dr. John is one of the most stylish men to be welcomed to the stage at the Philharmonic Hall, he also has the overpowering ability and back catalogue to back it up, in that, legendary is perhaps too shallow a description in which to place before the all rounder and man of many parts.

Even now there is a kind of reverence attached to finding a good Rock pub and seeing in the corner a juke box. Shuffling over, walking past the possible bruising and certain derogatory tones should your choices fill the place with ire or at the very least, a tut from the resident barman who will give you a blank look all night when you try to order a beer, you take a cursory glance at the music on offer and finding a pound in amongst the lint and fluff, make your well-armed choice.

For some the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool is a natural home, a place where outstanding music and appreciation go hand in hand; the circle of harmony forever ongoing and in time. Some artists though don’t just make the sound they deliver welcoming to the acoustically acute ears of those that walk through the entrance to the venue on perhaps arguably the most appropriately named street in the city, they give it room to breathe and nestle in the very fabric of the building’s infrastructure; they make it live.

When the band formally known as Dexy’s Midnight Runners announced there was finally going to be a new album for their fans to listen to and digest song by song, few would have guessed what was coming. Many may have hoped for the type of music that made the band one of the most talked about and iconic of the early 1980’s. What they got was something beyond their wildest dreams and Dexy’s, as they now are, were reborn.
