The prospect of losing someone so very close to us is perhaps the most primal feeling we can possess, it consumes us inside and out, it makes us say words we don’t mean and commit actions that are beyond what we would normally consider respectable. To face up to that day when we lose a parent is perhaps even more consuming, never mind if we actually get along with them, whether we love them or haven’t spoken for years, to lose the ones that brought you into the world has a devastating effect, especially on a young impressionable mind.

It was always inevitable, always going to happen at some point, perhaps in a galaxy not too far away but someone was always going to produce a prequel to the prequels and do it after all the sequels had been set near enough in Cordite. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the tale that all fans of the space saga has fully deserved, the one big hole that needed not just filling, but doing so with respect, with elegance and style and perhaps even with the odd nod to the Universe at large.

For all the good Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst bought to the Spiderman films of the previous decade, there is huge appeal in watching Andrew Garfield play the Marvel Comic book hero and the excellent Emma Stone as the immensely enjoyable Gwen Stacy in the latest Amazing Spider-Man film.
