A Human Face is all that is needed to make a person change their mind and perspective on most things, it is that connection we have, the pinpoint of recognising the similarity rather than the blank face of obscurity and blind hatred which makes us creatures that can feel empathy and love, even for those who have left us, who may have hurt us with words, who belong to a nation that wishes to see us humbled, subjugated, destroyed.

Snatched. Film Review.

Cast: Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn, Ike Barinholtz, Wanda Sykes, Joan Cusack, Tom Bateman, Bashir Salahuddin, Christopher Meloni, Óscar Jaenada.

 

Mixed: a sense of neither engaging, being fun enough to overlook the obvious, or unresponsive enough to find certain aspects of the film entertaining; for Snatched, it might go down on its epitaph that this particular film is neither here nor there. Its ideas are laudable but not sincere, that it brings one of the greats of her time in Goldie Hawn back to the screen but then doesn’t relish the part that she plays as the once gregarious girl of the film’s past nor as the woman who made films such as Death Becomes Her and Private Benjamin such sublime pieces of art.

There are some films that get released that you can’t help but admire the spirit in which they were released, the sheer striking sense of inadequacy that they impose on the thought processes and the feeling of the damaging voyeuristic intent in which they serve up the drama.

Man Of Steel, Film Review. Picturehouse At FACT.

Cast:  Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Russell Crowe, Harry Lennix, Christopher Meloni, Richard Schiff.

The least said about the 2006 Superman Returns film the better, the small screen adaptations although kept the legend alive were filler, more fluff than in a room full of pillows and for the films that made Christopher Reeve the deserved star he would be, there was so much wrong with them, so many parts miscast, so much playing for laughs that it can be often surprising to think that they three sequels.
