Rags to riches, we all dream of bettering the hand we have been played, to take on the phantom dealer of the cruel hand of fate and lending our name to the appropriate nature of immortality. Few though hold their nerve by sticking to their principals, by refusing to yield to temptation that such rapid rise might entail, and whilst they will probably end up forever having their dreams dashed, at least they can do so with a clear conscious and a heart that is light and with sign no sign of corruption in their soul.

Cast: Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, Eddie Marsan, John Goodman, Toby Jones, James Faulkner, Roland Møller , Sofia Boutella, Bill Skarsgård , Sam Hargrave, Johannes, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson , Til Scheiger, Barbara Sokowa.

It could be construed as Spy versus Spy but without the humour or anarchic level of higher learning and yet Atomic Blonde takes on the genre with surprisingly good value and with a storyline that is surrounded by one of the great moments in European history; the Berlin had stood as a symbol of the Cold War for 28 years but as the heat exchanged between Charlize Theron and all who stood in her built up, Atomic Blonde is nothing but explosive from start to the inevitable fall out.

Winter is always coming; it just depends on how far you are willing to go in which to protect yourself against the savagery of war that plunges mortal beings into the ways of the warrior. Frost calls and the Huntsmen go in search of more lands to steal; it might not sound like a fairy tale but The Huntsman: Winter’s War is no story in which to consult The Brother’s Grimm over, this is a made up sequel of its own creation.

Cast: Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Josh Helman, Nathan Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Abbey Lee, Courtney Eaton, John Howard, Richard Carter, Angus Sampson, Megan Gale, Melissa Jaffer, Coco Jack Gillies.

There are times when a long chase sequence is played out in front of a cinema audience and the heart just groans under the pressure of being subjected to the Director’s whim and fancy. It can be viewed upon as just being delivered as if the Director has no other idea of what to place into the film’s story line than have several cars or vehicles race round for a couple of hours with no discernible universal truth being explored. It is basically a testosterone fight but with petrol pumping through the heart instead of blood; it’s been done so many times that it has almost become a pastiche of itself.

If you want a franchise done properly, bring back the guy who made it a commercial and critical success in the first place. Prometheus does exactly that and sees the Sci-Fi/Horror film reunited with Ridley Scott, the man who scared cinema goers back in 1979 with Alien, and the result is stunning.
