In terms of his extraordinary output, Stephen King’s The Outsider has to rank, especially in the 21st Century, at the upper end of novels that connect with the human psyche and the unbalancing of fear to which he has immersed and soaked his name through with prolific ease.

There are times when you look at a film and understand the hype that has been attached to it, that the feeling of a completed article is close at hand, and yet in the same recognised thought, you see the issues that others have labelled down and wondered if they even went into the screening with that one purpose of mind, straight forward, non-objective or stereotyped open mindedness.

When you re-imagine the tale, there will always be arrows of derision ready to take aim and fire off volleys of shots of criticism; tampering with a classic is for some beyond acceptable, the story should be sacrosanct, etched in stone and forever told in a way that respects the past, as much as it pays esteem to our memory of it.

Few men in history can go through life without causing waves, without being the conversation of being somehow divisive, hated perhaps in equal measure as they are loved; it is the symbol perhaps of just how much drive a person can have in life, a thirst for adventure that makes them the figures they are.

Rogue One, A Star Wars Story. Film Review.

It was always inevitable, always going to happen at some point, perhaps in a galaxy not too far away but someone was always going to produce a prequel to the prequels and do it after all the sequels had been set near enough in Cordite. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the tale that all fans of the space saga has fully deserved, the one big hole that needed not just filling, but doing so with respect, with elegance and style and perhaps even with the odd nod to the Universe at large.

A film that relies heavily on the use of violence, spectacular cinematography and a look at how the mob can be seen as still effectively running the United States of America 50 years after President Kennedy tried to destroy it.  That it is in a sense the idea behind the new Brad Pitt film Killing Them Softly.

The arc is complete, the third and (supposed) final Batman film starring Christian Bale as The Dark Knight gets underneath the skin of the man and the protector of Gotham City and leaves in its wake all other versions of Bob Kane’s greatest creation.
