The Western was arguably a victim of its own success and the realisation that it held no meaning in an age where certain moments of history were being subject to closer and rightful scrutiny; the gung-ho feel of the interpreted hero and fatalism of the native American’s story not being considered beyond anything other than the role of the villain all combining to make The Western distasteful, to leave a sense of lies captured in the story.

The mind is an impressive machine, capable of so much, of inspiring absolutes and able to conquer all with reason, the heavens, the stars and its surroundings, yet often it is missing the vital information required to see the whole picture, to grasp the data shown and act upon it accordingly and deal with life without breaking down, without feeling as though you’re losing your mind.

If there is ever an emotive subject other than murder to bring into the world of the armchair detective, then it surely has to be the prospect of spies and counter espionage, the two realms of dark forces combined making a seemingly perfect storm in which to pit the wits against and to see who comes out on top; the writer or the viewer.
