An Evening Concert With Russell Watson And Choir At Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

The U.K.’s best-selling classical artist Russell Watson will be embarking on unique tour taking in some of the nation’s most beautiful Cathedrals for a very special candlelight Christmas concert with a choir. This tour sees Russell Watson visiting the length and breadth of the country in November and December and Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral will be one of the venues on December 13th.

Russell Watson never imagined he would someday be one of the world’s most prominent tenors, selling in excess of seven million albums worldwide. To date there have been nine studio albums, each one winning more critical acclaim than the one before. His first offering ‘The Voice’, held simultaneous number one slots in the U.S. and the U.K., a world’s first! It spent a record breaking 52 weeks at number one in the U.K!

Following sell-out shows at Arcola Theatre, award-winning British-African family drama Pandora’s Box embarks on its long-awaited U.K. tour this autumn. Nominated for this year’s Nigeria Prize for Literature, Africa’s biggest literary award, and for Best New Play, Off West End Theatre Awards, this moving tragicomedy about families, betrayal, choices and love is a must-see and starts its national tour in Liverpool at The Black-E on Friday September 12th.

Writers On The Brink Present It’s Play Time At The Lantern Theatre.

Emerging playwrights collective Writers on the Brink are proud to present a rehearsed reading of six short plays at the Lantern Theatre Liverpool on Thursday 2rd3 October at 7:30pm.

This pick-and-mix of exciting, new drama will be given a script-in-hand performance by professional actors alongside up-and-coming acting talent.

Six budding writers have been working with acclaimed screenwriter Julian Perkins (Murphy’s Law, Casualty, Images of Tiffin) and North West literary agent Diane Culverhouse (Culverhouse Associates) to develop their plays to industry standard.

Liverpool Everyman Premieres Jeff Young’s New Play, Bright Phoenix, This October.

Jeff Young’s new play, Bright Phoenix, has its world première at the Everyman in October and is inspired by a hidden Liverpool, a version of the city that is unauthorised and often unseen. The production is directed by Serdar Biliş, designed by Ti Green and features Paul Duckworth, Penny Layden, Rhodri Meilir and Cathy Tyson. The play runs from Friday 3rd to Saturday 25th October.

Gogol Bordello Announce Night Of Music In Liverpool As Part Of December Tour.

Following their weekend performances at Reading and Leeds, Gogol Bordello have announced a run of U.K. dates this December. The tour, which starts on Monday 8th December at the Newcastle Academy, will see the band come to the Liverpool 02 Academy on December 9th.

Gogol Bordello have spent the last decade getting down with that energy through their meteoric live shows and have earned a solid reputation as “The hottest global touring act to come out of New York (Billboard)” and “The world’s most riotous live band (Rolling Stone).” Their wildly energetic live shows are celebrated by fans worldwide and have brought them to nearly every corner of the globe.

The annual outing of Liverpool Comedy Festival returns for a lucky 13th year and with 13 days of the finest U.K. comedy performers, from Tuesday 23rd September until Sunday 5th October, in venues across Britain’s funniest city.

Brought to the people of Liverpool by The Comedy Trust, this year’s festival sees a whole host of the biggest names in comedy from Monty Python legend Michael Palin at the Echo Arena to British Comedy Award winners and BAFTA nominees Cardinal Burns at the Epstein Theatre. The big names continue as the Unity Theatre showcase the legendary Sean Hughes, Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Bridget Christie plus many more. After a sell-out run in 2013, Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse’s production of The Kite Runner returns this September for one week only. The stage adaptation of Khaled Hosseini’s beloved novel features many of the original cast members, including Ben Turner in the role of Amir, and will be at the Liverpool Playhouse from Monday 8th to Saturday 13th September before embarking on a national tour.
