Like Father Like Son, An Interview With Dweezil Zappa.

Originally published by L.S. Media. September 8th 2012.

The very name of Frank Zappa still feels like an enigma, somebody that was never really understood except through his music. When the musician passed on in 1993, the world lost one of its great musical eccentrics, most prodigious, prolific and all round good guys. With more than 60 albums to his name, whether solo recordings or with his band The Mothers of Invention, he had created music that was as diverse and difficult to categorize as any musician alive. The self- taught musician’s taste for the eclectic was marked him out as a true superstar and when he passed on, it seemed that the music may have died with him.

Their songs have inspired many and loved by millions. Time before a tour is hectic, there is so much planning to be done, arrangements to be finalised and of course the odd interview to be done.

Stephen Langstaff Interview, September 2009.

Originally published by L.S.  Media. September 17th 2009.

In eighteen short months the life and career of musician Stephen Langstaff has taken on almost sky rocket proportions, for a young man he was already well known as a decent support act in his own right and was able to open for the Bangles at the Academy on their tour in the summer of 2008. Stephen then got the call to support the Lightning Seeds at the Liverpool Philharmonic and then a coveted opening spot for Deacon Blue at this years Liverpool Summer Pops at the Echo Arena.

This year the Empire theatre in Liverpool have pulled out all the stops to provide families, couples and any one who just wants the chance to relieve childhood by booing loudly at the villain of the piece at this year’s Pantomime. The line up who will be donning the tights and slapping thighs will include the versatile Les Dennis whose C.V. reads like a catalogue of comedy characters, Atomic Kitten member Natasha Hamilton as Peter Pan and the legend that is the Fonz from Happy Days: Henry Winkler.

I last caught up with Stephen Langstaff just under a year ago when he was about to go on his eagerly awaited Academy tour at four different venues. This tour opened up more doors to the young Liverpool singer/songwriter and in the following year he has had the distinct pleasure of opening for the Lightning Seeds on their latest tour, culminating in a fantastic critically received gig at the Cadogan Hall, London.

Pete Trewavas Of Marillion And Transatlantic Interview, High Voltage.

Originally published by L.S. Media. July 27th 2010.

It’s the afternoon after the two nights before and I find Pete Trewavas in an unexpected jovial mood. I shouldn’t be really surprised, sure he has spent the last two nights playing and rocking out with two of the three acts he is associated with, the night before High Voltage with Marillion in Leamington Spa and the Saturday night with super group Transatlantic, but there is something different about the genial bass player that sets him apart from others in his position.

Baz Warne is one of those musicians you have to just meet once to know that they will give you an interview worth keeping and you will have the memory of meeting one of the nicest people in rock. He is Erudite, forthright and a lot of fun to spend in the company of. As a quarter of the rock/punk band The Stranglers his input into the British Music Industry is much talked about by fans and peers alike and the fact he will talk to anyone about the Stranglers and his life is testament to the man’s outlook on living not just for the music he has been connected with but also the laughter he generates when talking to him.
