Henge: Journey to Voltus B. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

The stance of Henge may be one that will possibly confuse the uninitiated but as the cult heroes bring their new album, Journey to Voltus B, to the shores of electronic rock so the reveal of what is an exciting invitation to really enjoy the creation and well as the flight that is awaiting them.

It is no mere excursion to undertake the mission of aural passage where Henge is considered, it is crossing of genres, an expedition to where the mind will be tested, where the resolve will be established, and in the rules of the Progressive, what will pass will become a permit of credentials to an experience that really gets to the soul of the listener, and as the steady build up that has followed them from their first shows in Greater Manchester to the point where an album is hugely anticipated for its forward thinking and clear satisfaction of delivery.

Innovation is always an incredible divulging expose when it comes to the unique thinking, and as the album itself is split into two overriding tales from the leaving of Earth to a faraway planet, and what could be on its side B, the way the tale is portrayed deserves applause and mind boggling questions of achievement as the second side itself is spit between two possible futures playing on the same lateral grooves. It is an astonishing way to present a record and one that will catch some out and have even more chomping at the bit for other bands to expand on this innovation.

Choosing between the utopia we all hope for and the desperate knowledge that humanity is always ultimately doomed because of our perception and arrogance of the universe and our place within it exceeds our measure as a species. It is in this that groove makes its choice, but one that the listener will find hard pressed to ignore playing again just so they can feel the emotions of both.

An experiment of brilliance, a gem that comes from the unexpected and the willingness to adapt and thrive.
