Alice Di Micele: Interpretations Vol 1. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

We must be resolute in our pursuit of being unique, even in the way we are guided by the voices of others, we must at all costs seek to stamp our own authority on what came before with matchless rarity, a dominating flavour that should be seen to all who observe as an exceptionality, as explosive as uncommon as a star entering its supernova stage just as we happen to look to the heavens.

It is in the act of interpretation that we gain clarity, we see the influence and hope to spread the original meaning into the ether as though that same sun that burst apart at the seams is now astonishingly the creator of a thousand more systems, a natural and fierce universal construct that spreads the message onwards even when it is no longer in its own vogue or sphere.

To Alice De Micele that interpretation has seen her become the musician she is today, a multitude of music that has garnered applause and critical acclaim, the fans besotted with her tone and undaunted spirit, and yet she also has her heroes, the ones that came before, and to whom she acknowledges as making her that unique performer that she is today.

In Ms. De Micele’s latest recording, Interpretations Vol 1, the legendary musician pays homage to Neil Young, Kate Wolf, Reverend Gary Davies, Christine McVie, Tom Petty, Abbey Lincoln, Sting, and arguably the band that kicked started the fascination of  intent as she recalls the vibe of her first ever gig by The Grateful Dead and in these covers, these urban tracks of modern historic value are bountiful and given a sense of lore, a creative cool from which tracks such as Give Yourself To Love, Death Has No Mercy, Square One, The Hounds Of Winter, and Harvest Moon are found to be resounding, informative, revealing to a new audience, whilst completely immersing themselves into being unique and illuminating.

Interpretations Vol 1 is an adventure, an exploration at the very heart of sun, the radiating heat melting away the past whilst holding on to integrity, and it is a marvellous addition to Alice Di Micele’s huge and entertaining catalogue of music.

Alice Di Micele releases Interpretations Vol 1 on February 16th.
