Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10
A vibe, whether for good or for ill, will catch your attention. Politics will do this, so will almost any preoccupation in life, but whilst these machinations of the mind will do so and then leave you hanging with just an idea for company, art will put them under a microscope and examine the feelings unearthed, like a scientist seeing the proof of existence in the smallest detail, so art will inflame the passion of the long since unconcerned and inject a fearsome connection that will resound in the soul for as long as the vibe lasts.
The vibe, Until It Breaks, is what catches the ear and sets fire to the mind, it is the substance of the great unknown becoming clear, manifesting into a corporeal form, and taking over the senses with an ease that is shatteringly beautiful and one that will lay eggs of intrigue in the gut. Until It Breaks, but perhaps not, because a song will harvest your emotions for your entire life, and so it is with the band.
For Red Winter the chance to influence an emotion, a vibe, is not one they take lightly from right at the centre of the Merseyside 21st Century youth explosion, the band have taken their duty seriously, and so it is in the single Until It Breaks. The upbeat and coolly delivered often rub shoulders with each other, but often the tether is not enough to stop the eventual fracture, the fraying of the message; not so with Red Winter, in this case the union just gets tighter, the song is unrelenting, and refuses to yield…such is Red Winter’s continuing ethos, such is the band’s power.
A great band deserve to have their vibe followed to whatever end may be, what purpose they discuss, and Red Winter, in their new single have yet again achieved that with honour, and the vibe throbbing wildly into the night.
