Cabin Boy Jumped Ship: Sentiments. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

Feelings, nothing more than the reaction to what has transpired, the opinion of response to stimuli, the external pressure represented by the Sentiments caressed by life; we must always be mindful of these personal views, the gush of blood that can tip the balance one way or the other less we fall into the trap of mawkishness, of the reaction that is not ours to behold.

Then there are true emotions, the inner belief, the gut feeling, the journey of the sentiment which holds fast when you embrace its warm, almost delicious fingers poking at your soul. These Sentiments are ones we must never ever betray, we must fight to show them, to be emotional, to be moved by life and someone else’s story, to be disturbed, to weep, to be thrilled, and excited, to have the brain aroused, to have the muscle of the heartbeat in time with the song being driven.

It is this emotion that Cabin Boy Jumped Ship that the emotion is one surrounded by aural fixation, of the blend of electro and Metal which is where the fire of the Mosh Pit collides and in this heated arena, the band’s brand-new album is one of electricity, of energetic inferno, a sentiment of reliability and combustion. This is a truth of Sentiments unleashed, and it is ready to ignite the soul.

The band call it Electronicore, the heady fusion of direct and forceful genres that pushes the soul into the Mosh Pit with an even greater urgency than perhaps many would be used to, and rather than shunning it, they should respond with an affirmative nod and gladdened heart; for as tracks such as Demons, Golden, Deluded, Cure, Survivor, and War fill the mind, the Leicestershire formed band dispense a sense of pure emotion, a belief that they can incinerate the negative, and adverse reaction to the strangeness of life.

Sentiments is a growling pleasure, it has a deep appreciation for its subject matter, and one that Cabin Boy Jumped Ship should be absolutely proud of. A tremendous gift of a recording, and one displayed with personal value.

Cabin Boy Jumped Ship will release Sentiments on 27th May via AFM Records.
