Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10
To seek sanctuary in a time of skeletons, the gutless and the frames of barebone lies should be considered an act of rebellious care, for how else are we meant to thrive when the system is run by sociopaths, by the manipulative and the devoid of empathy, we either surrender to the shattering destructive states of their whims and desires of control, or we place our trust in the Shelter Of Bones and live to fight the parasitical, the ones who sell false medicine and hope.
It is with the benefit of Time we find we knew those with harm in their souls and minds all along, when we find protection from the constant demand and the gas lighting practices, we understand finally that Haven is not a place where the frightened and alarmed reside, it is where the spirited, the rebellious and anti-lies gather to plan their attack and lead the fragile and denied back out into the light.
Time, we have all been afforded a glimpse of it in the last few years, and for the incredible versatility that resides in the award-winning musician Dan Patlansky, Time has taken on its own resonating pulse, for as he shows in his brand-new studio album, Shelter Of Bones, the eyes of us all have been opened to the shenanigans of those who wish to invade and destroy the refuge and we need to comment, to judge and decry those whose motives are suspicious and devious intent.
Across tracks such as the opener Soul Parasite, Selfish Lover, Bad Soul, I’ll Keep Trying, the superb Devil’s Dopamine, Hounds Loose and the title track of the album Shelter Of Bones, have laid bare and exposed to that elusive light the three years it took for the artist to forge and build this shield of musical deduction and groove, and in the time submitted the large and breath taking sound to which Mr. Patlansky has dedicated himself to since his debut in 1999 has been joined by the radical thought of determining that the occasional moment of change is worth so much more if defending the right to shake the bones of the enemy as they force their ill will against you.
A period of flux for all, but in Time Dan Patlansky has opened the door upon the Shelter Of Bones and seen that is worth safeguarding, caring for, and preserving. An album that continues the sheer brilliance of song writing that the fans have accustomed themselves to, a bow to the belief of attitude.
Dan Patlansky releases Shelter Of Bones on February 25th.
