Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10
The only certainty we have when it comes to being passionate about art is just how constantly we can be surprised by its evolution.
Life has moved on in such a pace in the last sixty years that it is impossible to know everything about a chosen field in which to be a modern Renaissance person, the enjoyment factor is there, but to be a true expert across many genres is intolerably, unbearably, unattainable for the vast majority of us who are side-lined by expectation, pushed aside by the concerns of life.
On The Other Side we longingly look, the grass of artistic pleasure always greener on the other side and it takes keen interest to even veer away from what we might deem as a comfortable listen, a contended read or view to vary our learning, to embrace what could be new and exciting variation on a theme.
Beto Bob might be considered a name that only fans of Bob Floyd will know and cherish, and in ordinary circumstances that is to be accepted, after all it is a truth of the modern age that we all cannot be expected to know all that is happening, too many glittering prizes await us in other quarters, and yet as On The Other Side rampages through the listener’s unsuspecting conscious, pulsing through as if framed by gushing magma from a newly discovered volcano, is drama, the willingness to step outside of the artist’s own comfort zone and urging, influencing the recipient to do the same.
Beto Bob does this with carefully planned drive, with wile, a guarantee that no matter what you might have expected, this first single to come from the Bob Floyd man goes further and fostered a new vibrant appreciation for what he has envisioned.
This is a track of certainty, one of the high rise guitar and the broadened lyric, and it is an example of taking nothing for granted, that in a world view supplied by this Renaissance man, the power to exhilarate the heart in an innovative and positive way is nothing short of brimming with vibrancy, of capturing the point of investigation by the listener; for by doing so the realm of what you understand increases.
A cracking single, Beto Bob has ignited the keg of enthusiasm and rock in an unexpected and fresh fashion.
