It’s Karma It’s Cool, Coffee Cup Circles. Single Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

Not everyone deserves to be visited by another’s interpretation of Karma, sometimes what is wished upon another human being is just sly vengeance for a slight imagined, revenge in the guise of spiritual punishment for one person not getting their own way; however It’s Karma It’s Cool is a different matter entirely, everyone should get this, all should feel the karmic attraction come their way, and in the addictive new single by the Lincolnshire band, the superb sounding Coffee Cup Circles, Karma doesn’t come to bite the listener on the nether region, it comes to add to the delight of the day.

It’s Karma It’s Cool, Lincolnshire’s greatest modern band, Lincolnshire heroes, for the sound they create, led by the vocals of Jim Styring, the guitar of Martyn Bewick, Mikey Barraclough’s stirring bass and Danny Krash’s drums, has the depth of musical addiction to which many aspire to being able to perform, and which thousands would welcome just to be able to hear.

The latest single, Coffee Cup Circles, is indicative of the nature of the band, the beauty of humour in the voice and the accompanying musicianship, the belief that life is meant to have a springboard, even when perhaps the subject matter has a more sensitive edge than may first appear.

They are in good company, even dare it be said, noble. For a band that has the same attitude and creative burst as say for example R.E.M., Weezer, and the superb They Might Be Giants, the range of Power Pop Punk and hypnotic tones are gloriously intriguing, they stand up in a world of apparent beige with their heads held high and add distinctive colour to the surroundings.

Those Coffee Cup Circles that become engrained on the table, they are not ugly, they are not to be wiped away at a whim with a wet cloth of indifference or judgemental attitude, instead look upon them for a while as art in the obscure place, the indelible rings that display another way to look at the world. For those circles are not just the reminder of the last drink you had, but they are the memory of how alive you felt after imbibing the liquid delight on offer.

A cracking single by It’s Karma It’s Cool, addictive, pulse driven, and relentless.

It’s Karma It’s Cool will release their new album Homesick For Our Future Destinations on November 5th.
