Where Time Suspends, inspiration unlocks and sets free the spirit to explore, to be at peace and rage against interruption and postponement with all its might.
Time though suspends for a reason, the moment where you can hear it withhold its passage between the Tick and Tock is the most precious gift that it can bestow, for whilst inspiration serves a greater purpose, reflection is the place where the Muse looks you in the eye and asks you take part in the dance, serenaded by silence, buoyed by the song of the passionate eternity; for in that moment what is born, what appears fresh to the world is the commitment to push to clock onwards and allow what you have dreamed to be pursued.
If Time is suspended, where does that leave the artist, if you look carefully, and no matter how much time has elapsed between projects, they should be there, in the shadow, taking notes, listening to heartbeat of Time, and despite the five-year gap between Rosie Nimmo’s 2016 album, Scrapbook, and this compelling album, the blend of Folk, Pop, Blues and Jazz that endears and shapes itself beautifully through poetic song and stirring music is to be admired fully.
Where Time Suspends sees the lengthy musical and vocal cascades of the exquisite follow each other superbly, the interweaving dynamic of deep vision across tracks such as Keyboard Warriors, Opps A Daisy, Music Is Sunshine, Could Have Been and Heaven is gorgeously interpreted as if Time not only stopped, but found a way to tick on only for Ms. Nimmo, allowing her to see all the colours fully, the rainbow heightened against the rain that others felt.
When Time prohibits progress, when the soul feels as if it has become stagnant, it is to the Muse that we seek guidance, and in a world where we are often impeded by what life demands of us, to take on Time at its own game is to be inspired; a moment that Rosie Nimmo has fully appreciated in her delightful new album.
