Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10
The Situation has passed, but Time does not stand still and wait patiently for the gifted and productive to make their next move; Time’s fortune is to push ever onwards, to inspire, to cajole and persuade all artists to make yet another stand against the beige and the mediocre humdrum of life. Situations pass, balance is restored, and then placed on edge once more, the circle of life and anarchy continue ever onwards, and it takes sensitivity, precision and astute belief to keep the blues at bay whilst allowing the Blues to shine.
Following on from the magnificent 2018 release The Situation, Snowy White has further cemented his career with the new album, Something On Me, that has the presence of Time woven throughout its measured, and demanding tone, a set of songs and musical considerations in which the listener is treated to an array of emotions and complex passions which ultimately thrill, and educate, with absolute honour.
There is beauty and responsibility always to be found within the work and musical endeavour of Snowy White and The White Flames, and this new album, with its emphasis on tracks such as Another Blue Night, Get Responsible, Ain’t Gonna Lean On You, the outstanding One More Traveller, Commercial Suicide and It’s Only The Blues, those twin emotional pulls are gratefully received, understood and enjoyed; and whilst the Blues retains a sense of order that is not appreciated fully by the majority, all who find the music comforting, conflicting, alluring can happily say at this point and with this new recoding by one of the maestro’s of the genre, that it has Something On Me which is beautiful.
A musician, an artist of consistent delight, flair and seeker of truth, Snowy White’s application and desire arguably makes Time hold its breath, that it becomes patient in his presence, a mindfulness that Something On Me frames with absolute sincerity.
Snowy White And The White Flames release Something On Me on October 9th via Soulfood Music.
