Liverpool’s What We Did Next is proud to present Nick Payne’s Constellations.
It’s a play about free will and friendship; it’s about quantum multiverse theory, love and honey.
Meet Marianne and Roland. A couple destined to be together. And to be apart. To get back together. To never see each other again. To become soul mates. To become strangers. This powerful, intelligent play invites you to explore one relationship with infinite possibilities.
For What We Did Next, it’s a wonderful opportunity to perform at Scale, a beautiful photography studio in the Fabric District of Liverpool. Although well-known throughout the city for its sell-out musical theatre performances over the past eleven years, the company is excited to return to performing a straight play with Constellations, accompanied by an original score written specifically for the piece by Jonas Tattersall.
The company has previously delighted local audiences with their take on several modern and classic musicals such as Be More Chill, Pippin, Bonnie & Clyde, Bat Boy, Carousel, Rent, The Last 5 Years, Company and Into the Woods.
What We Did Next was founded during Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture Year in 2008, by a group of recent University of Liverpool graduates looking for an outlet for their creativity, while starting out in various careers in and around the city.
A decade on, they are thriving as a company and very much a part and a product of Liverpool’s vibrant cultural scene.
The company defines itself as a team of “Professional Amateurs.” Members include doctors, teachers, photographers and those who are training for a career on the stage, who come together to produce professional-standard theatre that otherwise may not be seen in the city.
Tickets for Constellations, which is on from the 21st November to the 23rd, are priced at £11/£13 (plus £1.50 booking fee) and are available from the WWDN website.
