The Promise Of Something Different As Knee Deep In Promises Comes To The Royal Court Studio Space.

What do you do when your mum dies and you’ve promised to do “something different” for her funeral? That is the problem that Dean is facing in Knee Deep In Promises at Liverpool’s Royal Court Studio.

Starring Debbie Brannan (Cilla, Coronation Street), Lewis Bray (Cartoonopolis) and Sharon Byatt (Bread, Blood Brothers) and directed by Paul Goetzee, the play is a bitter-sweet story about how difficult it can be to live a simple life.

The script is another one that was developed through the theatre’s programme to promote new writing – Stage Write. It is the third Stage Write play this year following Masquerade and Pig and there are more promised for 2020.

Dean’s mum has just died. It’s OK though, he’s making her a coffin out of Weetabix boxes. It’s what she would have wanted. Probably.

Trish from next door is there to help. Dean needs to keep his promise to his mum about giving her a good send-off but he wants to talk first. About prom night. About lost love. About how people are and how they could be instead.

Deborah Morgan’s brilliant new play looks at the trouble that life can throw at you while you try to do your best.

Warning: may contain some sadness.

The show is age advisory 14+.

Knee Deep In Promises runs from Wednesday 2nd to Saturday 19th October in the Studio space at Liverpool’s Royal Court. Tickets are £10 and are available from www.liverpoolsroyalcourt.com or on 0151 709 4321.
