Lonny Ziblat, Dream Hunting. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

You don’t always have to have a plan, there is not always the need to plot and connive your way to producing something that you hope will stir the imagination in others. Invariably the dialect of the Muse is such that we often strain to believe their song, that sometimes the best avenue of pursuit is to let the rabbit trails take you on a journey of surprise and investigation, a system of delivery that is not so much steeped in strategy, but in the belief that Dream Hunting is the place in which visions unfold.

It is in the continuation of the hunt, the understanding that creativity must never be allowed to stall and to fade out of existence, that composer Lonny Ziblat, formally of Modest Midget, takes to heart and finds that far from being the end of the journey when the band broke up, it was a time in which reflections and deliberation would be the order of the day. Taking stock is an underrated pastime, but it allows for healing to take place, rather than the continued rush to replace what was once all consuming, instead the art of just performing, of placing thoughts down in a manner of peace, can lead to a greater plain of consideration.

There is often in life the moment when we realise that constant planning can lead to a break down in the soul, forever living in the future, we forget to exist in the moment, to feel the heartbeat of the dream as it alludes to a vision, the return of ambition; the knowledge that the world is often fake because it has no reason to be anything else.

In Lonny Ziblat’s Dream Hunting, songs such as Outta Sight, Another Day, Days Of Peace, the excellent Lady Witch, Stuck and A Little Secret all combine to give the author that peace, the wish to see beyond the plan and just relax, to let his imagination breathe without a trace of concern, is a huge bonus, for the artist and the listener alike.

A confident and welcome return for Lonny Ziblat, one where all the songs speak for themselves and the reward for patience in reflection has been earned and beautifully justified. We are all searching for an answer, few come to understand that the hunt should start with our own perception and dreams, Lonny Ziblat has attained that depth of appreciation fully.
