Liverpool Acts Announced For Africa Oyé 2019 Introduces’ Programme.

Africa Oye has announced the Liverpool talent that will be showcased as part of the ‘Oye Introduces’ programme at this year’s Sefton Park festival.

Launched in 2015, ‘Oye Introduces’ sees North West artists open both days of the festival, giving some of the area’s brightest young stars the chance to share the stage with the ever-eclectic international Oye line-up.

On 22nd & 23rd June 2018, Sefton Park will once again be taken over by the music and culture of Africa and the Diaspora for two free days of fantastic live music, DJs, dance, workshops, food stalls and a range of traders in the Oye Village. Kicking off things on the Sunday of the festival will be the rapidly emerging solo artist, Tabitha Jade. Making waves across the North West and beyond, Jade has already scooped a multitude of awards in her young career, including a National Song award.

Named as ‘One To Watch’ by both LIMF Academy and the Urban Music Awards, Jade has dropped her latest single this April, titled Caught Up – a slice of fresh afro-swing that will definitely be keeping her growing supporters on the dance floor.

Opening the main stage music programme on the Saturday of the festival is Essex-born, Liverpool-based, cellist and singer songwriter, Satin Beige.

Satin’s cello-infused R&B, combined with velvet vocals and sultry lyrics, promise to bring an intoxicating mix of sensuality and sass to Sefton Park on 22nd June. The LIPA graduate has previously wowed audiences at the likes of the Threshold Festival and Liverpool Loves and now the Africa Oye audience will get the chance to experience her unique vibe and sound. Africa Oye’s Artistic Director, Paul Duhaney, said of the announcement, “This will be the fifth Oye Introduces programme since its launch and I couldn’t be happier with the selections for 2019. We’re getting more and more applications to play the festival from local artists so the competition was really high this year, but we could tell that both Tabitha and Satin will bring something special to each day of the festival and are both artists we’ll be seeing much more of in the future”.

The 2019 Africa Oye festival will take place on 22nd and 23rd June, 2019 in Liverpool’s Sefton Park on the Review Field from 12:30pm till 9:30pm both days. Entrance is free and you do not need a ticket. For more information on the festival and other events held across the country by Africa Oye visitafricaoye.com.
