Liverpool Nightlife Collective SisBis announce their next refugee fundraiser: Carista, SNO and resident, Giovanna, at 24 Kitchen Street on 13th April 2019 Liverpool Nightlife collective.
SisBis are delighted to welcome their first booking from outside the UK, the Dutch-Surinamese DJ, Carista, on Saturday 13th April 2019. She will be joined by Manchester DJ, SNO and SisBis resident Giovanna, with visuals by local illustrator, Helena Geilinger. All proceeds and donations on the night will go to local charity, Refugee Women Connect.
Carista Eendragt was born in Utrecht, The Netherlands, to parents from Suriname. Her sets swing easily between electronic rhythms and soulful grooves. Her diverse selection goes from hip hop, house, bass heavy sounds to disco, jazz and everything in between. Her radio show at Red Light Radio and NTS Radio broadcasts her ‘infectious positive energy and her distinctive taste’. This summer will see her appear across Europe at festivals Dekmantel, Lost Village, Secretsundaze and many more.
“Whatever genre or music style I select there’s always soul that people can connect to. But you know, it all depends on my mood too.” said Carista
Manchester based SNO grew up in South Africa and fell in love with music at an early age, from exploring her uncle’s record collection. Over the last few years she has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with artists including Amadou & Mariam, Gilles Peterson and Ata Kak and continues to tour the European festival circuit.
Both Carista and SNO were featured in DJ Mag in October 2018, and Mixmag in November 2018.
Completing the lineup is SisBis resident, Giovanna, whose collection of records, shows and radio appearances is expanding exponentially. The last 18 months have seen her share the stage with artists such as Sun Ra Arkestra, Detroit Swindle and Motor City Drum Ensemble as well as appear as a guest on Red Light Radio, Amsterdam and Liverpool’s Melodic Distraction. She has also just become an NTS Radio resident DJ, and her next two shows are 16th March and the 13th April 2019.
Giovanna, resident DJ and one third of all-female music collective SisBis said: “When I saw Carista’s Boiler Room set for Dekmantel Festival I was so inspired by the energy she was creating on the dancefloor, I knew we had to have her play for us in Liverpool.”
As usual any proceeds go to help Refugee Women Connect, a local charity that supports refugee and asylum-seeking women – especially mothers – who have settled in Liverpool. Party goers are invited to bring nappies, period products and baby clothes to donate on the evening.
