Phil McIntyre Entertainments are delighted to announce that John Robins, winner of the lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2017 and co-host of The Elis James and John Robins Show on Radio X, will tour the U.K. with a brand-new show, Hot Shame from September 2019.
It comes to The Epstein Theatre on Friday 8th November and tickets are on sale now.
Beginning with a six-night run at The Tobacco Factory, Bristol from 2nd September 2019, concluding at Birmingham Town Hall on 30th November 2019 and with a night at London’s
Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on 25th October 2019, the tour will take in an initial total of 44 dates.

As well as receiving widespread acclaim for his radio show with Elis James, John has gained a reputation as a stand-up for finding humour in our bleakest moments. Expect soul-bearing, self-lacerating, piping-hot shame!
Since winning the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2017 and subsequently enjoying a sell-out U.K. tour that included a date at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, John released his debut book, The Holy Vible: The Book The Bible Could Have Been, co-authored with Elis James, with whom he presents hugely successful The Elis James and John Robins Show on Radio X, a show and podcast which has a huge and devoted following. In 2017 Elis and John won the Chortle Award for Best Radio and in 2018 the podcast was nominated for Best Radio Podcast in the British Podcast Awards.
John Robins said, “Following my commercial digital indie radio quest to rid the U.K. of shame, I have decided to climb the rope out of John’s Shame Well to travel the country with stories of “Hot Shame”. Conveniently I already had a 44-date pub crawl in the diary, and my agents suggested I combine it with shows at regional arts centres and theatres. After some long, and, at times, quite heated discussions about remuneration, I agreed.
You may notice similarities in the show’s artwork to the Queen album ‘Hot Space’, this is no accident. It’s an album which remains a small source of shame for the remaining members, I however think it’s deserving of re-evaluation. Though this show is not explicitly concerned with the Queen album ‘Hot Space’, I always think it’s useful for the audience to have a little bit of homework. So, whack it on I’d love to know your thoughts, but just to emphasize, the show, at time of going to press, contains no reference to, mention of, nor material relating, to the Queen album ‘Hot Space’.”
John has appeared on Live at the Apollo (B.B.C. Two), Celebrity Mastermind (B.B.C. One) with, as a renowned expert, Queen as his specialist subject, Live from the B.B.C. (B.B.C. Two), Mock the Week (B.B.C. Two), 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave) and Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), and is a sought after writer on both television and radio with credits including Stand Up For The Week (C4), The Last Leg (C4) and the Russell Howard Hour (Sky One).
