Rising Scottish singer Gerry Cinnamon has announced a huge U.K. and Ireland tour for March 2019. Kicking things off at Belfast Ulster Hall on Thursday 7th March he’ll perform a further nine dates, including a night at the University of Liverpool’s Mountford Hall on March 23rd before concluding at Birmingham O2 Institute on Sunday 31st March.
With no hype machine, no radio play and no record label backing, Gerry Cinnamon has achieved record breaking success and cemented his status as Scotland’s most successful independent artist.
Just one Facebook post and less than 5 minutes, was all Cinnamon needed to sell out multiple nights at the world famous Barrowland Ballroom; becoming the first unsigned artist to do so and earning him a place in the music institution’s hall of fame alongside the likes of David Bowie, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and Ocean Colour Scene. The prestigious Barrowland “Hall of Fame” award adds to his growing collection, including his Great Scot Award for Entertainment and Best Live Act in the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.
Gerry’s music crosses generations in a way that only a handful of wordsmiths can – relatable, relevant and a true story teller. Unsigned and unmatched in his ability to operate outside of the mainstream Gerry has become a cult hero and force to be reckoned with. In September last year, his hugely anticipated self-produced, self-released debut album Erratic Cinematic rocketed to the top of the iTunes album charts with little more than a social media post; holding off some of the biggest names the industry has to offer.
This latest headline tour, his biggest to date, looks set to continue his legacy of selling out shows in minutes. His inimitable live shows are infamous for their wild atmosphere and special sing along moments; with his crowd singing every word – to every song – many before they are even released.
This summer Gerry returned to TRNSMT festival as the first unsigned artist to take to the main stage. In an age of information overload, it’s clear Gerry Cinnamon cuts through the noise. No longer is the intermediary power with the label, the radio stations or the media. It is between the artist and the people. Gerry is perhaps the U.K.’s or the World’s best example of that.
Currently supporting the Courteeners on their winter tour, Gerry is gearing up for his own sold out dates this December before heading out on his U.K. and Ireland tour in March 2019.
Speaking on the new tour Cinnamons says, “The last year has been wild. The album is flying. Scottish tour sold out in jig time. England and Ireland dates done the same and then two nights in the Dam. And it’s all just from word of mouth. No big marketing. That means the folk who come to the gigs are there ’cause they love their tunes. That means it’s real. It might not seem like much but it means something to me. See, when the crowds with you singing every word it’s a mad feeling. Can’t wait to get in about it again with these shows!”.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
