Comedy, music, dance and high drama are part of a packed programme of entertainment coming to The Epstein Theatre this November. Add in theatre, festival fun and a chance to see talented stars of the future and there’s no better place to be than at the Hanover Street venue.
Music fans are in for a treat throughout November, with a host of fantastic acts making a date for the Epstein.
November sees a return to the theatre for the mighty Darkside – The Pink Floyd Show with its You Gotta Be Crazy Tour. See this fantastic and faithful tribute to the legends of prog rock on Saturday November 3rd.
Celebrate the life and career of the – singer’s singer’ in The Matt Monro Story, coming for one night only on Sunday November 4th and featuring the popular British vocalist’s greatest hits including Born Free and Portrait of My Love.
Another musical legend takes centre stage on Tuesday November 6th and Wednesday November 7th when Something About Simon pays tribute to the talented singer-songwriter Paul Simon. In this new live show, Gary Edward Jones not only recites the music of one of his idols, but also tells the unique story of Paul Simon combining visuals, stage design and, of course.. the music.
Liverpool audience favourite Asa Murphy stars in Buddy Holly Lives on Friday November 16th, while the brilliant Glenn Tilbrook pays a visit to the Epstein on Tuesday November 20th, performing classic songs from Squeeze – the band he formed with Chris Difford 45 years ago – as well as his own interpretation of tracks by different artists.
Another 70s musical phenomenon is remembered on Friday November 23rd with a welcome return for T.Rextasy, playing the hits of the late glam rock pioneer Marc Bolan and his band T Rex.
Jamie Somers & Friends present Legends of Music on Sunday November 25th in an all age family show, the Eagles’ back catalogue is performed in Talon: The Best of Eagles greatest hits tour 2018 on Wednesday November 28th, and Rhinestone Cowboy … The Glen Campbell Story recalls the late, great American singer-songwriter on Thursday November 29th.
Finally, the king is back on Friday November 30th as the Epstein plays host to The Spirit of Elvis in Concert starring Gordon Hendricks.
Along with a host of musical favourites, November is also offering plenty of chances to have ribs tickled with some top comedy heading this way during the month.
Liverpool favourite, viral blogger – and dad of twins – Sam Avery brings his The Learner Parent stand-up show to the Epstein on Thursday November 8th.
Enjoy twice the laughs with not one but two comedy names on the same bill when Elis James and John Robins present The Holy Vible Book Tour on Tuesday November 13th, and revel in the deadpan delivery of the laconic Rich Hall who brings his Rich Hall’s Hoedown to the venue on Thursday November 15th.
Comedy gets cerebral meanwhile when Rob Newman pays a visit on Thursday November 22nd with his Total Eclipse of Descartes tour.
Two top Liverpool festivals present some great work at the theatre during the month.
Fagin’s Twist, on Monday November 12th, is part of LEAP dance festival 2018. Avant Garde Dance and The Place present a unique twist on the back story of one of Dickens’ most colourful characters.
And Jinkx Monsoon & Major Scales bring audiences The Ginger Snapped on Wednesday November 21st as part of Homotopia Festival 2018. Ru Paul’s Drag Race favourite Jinkx and lyrical genius Major Scales return to showcase new music from their upcoming album. However, Jinkx worries that her best years are behind her, and in order to avoid a breakdown of diva proportions Major must act as both pianist and therapist to the Manic Miss Monsoon.
Head down to Fat Sam’s grand slam speakeasy for some illicit hooch and a splurge gun fight as LHK Youth Theatre presents the gleeful kids’ musical Bugsy Malone on Saturday November 17th and Sunday November 18th.
And it’s bah humbug as the festive season comes to the scrapyard in Christmas with Steptoe & Son on Monday November 26th. Pay a visit to 26 Oil Drum Lane to catch up with the nation’s favourite rag-and-bone men and indulge in some classic, Yuletide misadventures.
With this amazing line-up of talent, The Epstein Theatre really does have something on offer for all this November.
