Thought Provoking Drama, And Talent Galore, On At The Epstein Theatre This October.

The Epstein Theatre has plenty of action-packed live theatre this October including thought-provoking drama, family fun to keep the little Epsteinees entertained, a fantastic celebration of the finest local talent, and the very best in live music and comedy.

Considered one of the most influential plays of its generation, Daniel Taylor Productions present hard-hitting and gritty drama A Taste Of Honey from Tuesday 9th – Saturday 13th October in what marks 60 years since its premiere.

Part of the post-war kitchen sink movement and written by British dramatist Shelagh Delaney when she was just 18 years old, it tells the gripping story of the turbulent relationship between mother and daughter; starring Liverpool actress Sharon Byatt in the role of Helen, and LIPA graduate Sophie Coward as Jo.

There is a full music programme this month, starting on Sunday 7th October when audiences can celebrate 25 years of the U.K.’s number one boy band with The Take That Experience, featuring all their biggest hits including Pray, Relight My Fire, Patience, Shine, These Days, Giants and many more.

One of Britain’s greatest progressive and glam rock artists will be celebrated on the Epstein stage when Ultimate Bowie, a salute to David Bowie comes to the venue on Friday 19 October; a stunning two-hour showcase of Bowie’s hits, from Space Oddity to Let’s Dance to Blackstar.

Catch one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world, when Dr. Feelgood is in town on Saturday 20th October performing hit singles Roxette, Back in the Night, Down at the Doctors, She Does it Right, Going Back Home and See You Later Alligator.

Don’t miss An Irish Hooley on Sunday 28th October featuring Ryan Ireland and starring Jimmy Cricket, and then expect fast-paced medleys and mind-bending mashups when the multi-award-winning British vocal group Sons of Pitches come to the Epstein on Monday 29th October bringing the music offerings for the month to a sensational climax.

Some of the country’s finest comedians are on the line-up this month, starting with internationally acclaimed funnyman Jimeoin, who presents an evening of world-class comedy stand up on Wednesday 17th October in his new show, Result!

Returning due to extraordinary demand, Tom Allen brings his sharp, acerbic wit back to The Epstein Theatre on Thursday 18th October. Then two of Made in Chelsea’s favourite stars Jamie Laing and Francis Boulle tread the boards with their live, laugh-a-minute extravaganza Private Parts on Monday 22nd October.

Watch in delight and/or horror as stand-up comedian and television stalwart Phill Jupitus drags laughs out of the chaos of his own life and the uncertain world that surrounds it in Juplicity on Tuesday 30th October.

Young audiences are in for a treat this month with a triple-bill of family entertainment.

Scamp Theatre present a delightful adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Stick Man, the award-winning production comes to The Epstein on Saturday 6th October; and Helen Stephen’s magical book How To Hide A Lion comes to life on Sunday 14th October with playful humour, dazzling puppets and jazz.

The family fun continues on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th October as Selladoor Family present Guess How Much I Love You, the playful story of Little & Big Nutbrown Hare in a magical show with puppets, live music and interactive play.

October also sees a wealth of local talent take to the Epstein stage, with two shows celebrating the stars of tomorrow.

Local dance company Elite Street Dance Company present Time To Shine, an unmissable showcase of the wonderful talents of their students on Friday 5th October.

Then come along and witness the incredible multi-talented cast of young performers from The Heath Perform and LIPA 4:19 Theatre Company who return with Jesus Christ Superstar from Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th October.
