Alternative and innovative theatre company 1927, who brought their dazzling production of Golem to the Playhouse in 2017, are back in Liverpool this Autumn to invite audiences on a theatrical journey of starting originality with The Animals and Children Took to the Streets.
Directed and written by Suzanne Andrade the internationally renowned company re-visit the Playhouse from 17-20 October to wow Playhouse audiences once again, with a jaw-dropping production combining animation, live actions and music.
Described as “a world so complete it feels as if you’ve fallen down a rabbit hole“ by The Guardian, The Animals and Children Took to the Streets transports us to the Bayou, a feared and loathed area of a distant city wherein lies the infamous Bayou Mansions; a sprawling stinking tenement block, where curtain-twitchers and peeping-toms live side by side and the wolf is always at the door.
When Agnes Eaves and her daughter arrive late one night, does it signal hope in this hopeless place, or has the real horror only just begun?
Bursting into life like a graphic novel on the stage The Animals and Children Took to the Streets, seamlessly synchronises live music, performance and storytelling with films and animation.
Ben Lloyd, Producer at the Everyman & Playhouse, said, “We were blown away by 1927’s unique and innovative storytelling when they brought Golem to the Playhouse in 2017, and we’re delighted to be welcoming them back to the Playhouse in October with the show that made their reputation.
A mix of dark, gritty animation, epic live music, and weird, wonderful story telling, 1927’s The Animals and Children Took to the Streets will be a feast for the senses for our audiences this Autumn.”
The Animals and Children Took to the Streets is on at the Playhouse from 17th-20th October. Tickets are on sale now and available at www.everymanplayhouse.com/whats-on or by calling 0151 709 4776.
