Hope Street Ltd Presents Its Final Show, Climate Change Is Rubbish, At Liverpool’s Hanger 34.

After 30 years of providing training, guidance and support to emerging artists, Hope Street Ltd makes Climate Change is Rubbish its final production.

Riotous, fun and inadvertently relevant, Climate Change is Rubbish is a multi-disciplinary show with videos, street theatre, original music and much, much more, directed by Liverpool based artists and street theatre specialists, Egg People.

Climate Change is Rubbish is part of Julie’s Bicycle Season for Change, a U.K.-wide programme of cultural responses celebrating the environment and inspiring urgent action on climate change, running from June to December 2018 to coincide with the COP24 UN Climate Negotiations.

Just like the sea level, a new political party is rising, and they have their own ideas about Climate Change.

N.O.P.E. (New Organisation for Progressive Earth) has been lurking in the shadows for years, but now they are ready to make it to the big arenas and they want your vote. Climate Change – Bring it on! Our party will make Earth great again.

Climate Change is Rubbish is divided into two different parts, which are connected and completely different, but which the audience can enjoy separately or come to both.

One part is the street theatre performance days, where our politicians along with interventions from local community and youth groups will be ‘rallying’ and sharing their ‘manifesto’: 7th July at 2:30pm in Birkenhead, 14th July at 1:30pm in Huyton and 21st July at 1:30pm at Liverpool Pier Head. All the street theatre performances are free to attend! Look out for us, and in Liverpool’s Pier Head find our ‘campaign bus’.

Community groups include Creative Youth Development, RAWD and Off the Ground in Birkenhead; Karma in the Community, A Bit of Everything and Collective Encounters in Huyton and MDI’s Men Dancing! and 50 Moves, Network Theatre and PSS at Liverpool Pier Head.

The second and final part of Climate Change is Rubbish is the much-anticipated final performance, where our new political party of climate change deniers, N.O.P.E., will hold their ‘party conference’ – expect cheesy musical moments, films, puppets, and a lot of things going wrong for the party leaders. Tickets are currently for sale via Ticket Quarter, performances 26th and 27th July at Hangar 34, Liverpool.

Montserrat Gili, Creative Director at Hope Street Ltd. Said,We have brought together an amazing team of Hope Street Ltd alumni and collaborators from across the years, to mentor and work with our last cohort of emerging artists, who are all amazing individuals with a great future ahead.”

Peter Ward, Hope Street Ltd. director added, “After 30 years of providing training, guidance and support to emerging artists, Hope Street Ltd closes with ADAPT (Artist Development And Performance Training) and this final show. We are proud of what we have accomplished over the years and the legacy we leave behind not only in the Liverpool cultural landscape but in the U.K. and internationally.”

Egg People have said,We are all very excited to be working with such a talented group and with Hope Street in their final show. We hope Climate Change is Rubbish will not only make the audience roar with laughter but also give them some food for thought regarding such an important subject as climate change.”

ADAPT and the final show is financially supported by Liverpool City Council, Arts Council England and the PH Holt Foundation.
