The Capstone is delighted to announce the launch of its spring 2018 season, which runs from late January to May 2018, and promises an eclectic range of artistic delights with a particular focus on contemporary music, jazz, world music and contemporary dance.
The season boasts two festivals, the sixth incarnation of Liverpool International Jazz Festival (22nd- 25th February) and the annual Cornerstone Arts Festival, a multi-arts festival (3rd- 10th March). In addition, there is a scattering of performances from Capstone regulars Milapfest, Liverpool Mozart Orchestra, Merseyside Improvisers Orchestra and others.
Some early season highlights include concerts by the James Taylor Quartet, Get The Blessing, Jason Rebello, Arun Ghosh and Soft Machine (all performing as part of Liverpool International Jazz Festival).
Other performances this season include Tooth + Nail Theatre Company, The Katona Twins, Lizzie Nunnery and a Sky One Brexit commission by writer John Godber (all as part of The Cornerstone Arts Festival). Later in spring audiences are treated to a concert by Australian musical improv trio The Necks (20th March) as part of a 3-day series focusing on musical improvisation, contemporary dance from Sweetshop Revolution (22nd March) and The New Zealand Dance Company (17th April) and music from seasoned American singer songwriters Tom Paxton (13th April) and Dean Friedman (5th May).
