Following an award-winning run at this year’s Brighton Fringe, Liverpool theatre company Teatro Pomodoro will bring Cabaret From The Shadows back home for a one-night-only performance at the Unity Theatre in September, as part of The Liverpool Comedy Festival.
The group fought off stiff competition to win the Nordic Fringe Network Award, with performances in Brighton earning it standing ovations and an all expenses trip to Scandinavia to perform the show at the Nordic Fringe. The international ensemble will perform in Bergen, Norway next month before their homecoming show at the Unity Theatre in Liverpool on 20th September.
Cabaret From The Shadows has been developed entirely in Liverpool receiving support by the Lantern Theatre, the Unity Theatre, Merseyside Arts Foundation, Hope Street Limited, Physical Fest and the Arts Council England. It is a fresh and shameless show with an eclectic mix of theatre, dark comedy and live music.
The company is made up of performers from across the globe, with Carmen Arquelladas (Spain), Duncan Cameron (Canada), Miwa Nagai (Japan), Simone Tani (Italy) and Huyton-born Leebo Luby representing Liverpool and U.K. in the collective. The Brighton Fringe run also saw the participation in the cast of renowned London-based actor Vera Chok.
“Cabaret From The Shadows embodies the spirit of the Fringe with a fat dose of expect the unexpected mixed with the odd, the ugly and the beautiful. In an increasingly hostile world, we need antidotes that uncompromisingly deliver more crazy, more twisted, more everything. They put the jury in a state of equal delight and disgust.” said Adam Potrykus, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Stockholm Fringe Festival.
Cabaret From The Shadows comes to the Unity Theatre in Liverpool on 20th September as part of The Liverpool Comedy Festival, with dates later in the year in Chester, Ormskirk, Runcorn and London. Tickets are on sale now. 5
