2017 marks the 50th anniversary of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and to celebrate the occasion The Mersey Beatles will be performing the whole album live at The Epstein Theatre on Saturday 1st April.
Liverpool’s favourite Beatles tribute band returns to perform at the venue named after the Fab Four’s famed manager, Brian Epstein. This special set will constitute the first half of an unforgettable Beatles experience. The second half of the show will see the boys return in the familiar black suits of Beatlemania and via a quick change they will take the audience on a trip down Abbey Road with 20 golden greats from across the Beatles back catalogue
Since 1999 The Mersey Beatles have been recreating the sights and sound of the Beatles with a very authentic and distinctly Liverpool-flavoured tribute. The childhood friends who grew up in Liverpool had a record collection in common. The Beatles records were always sitting on the very top of that pile and they still are to this day. Steven Howard, Mark Bloor and Brian Ambrose attended secondary school together in the city. David Howard and Steven Howard are cousins. Tony Cook, another friend from Liverpool, is the fifth Mersey Beatle. His keyboard skills make the hits of the later years come to life
The Mersey Beatles love of Beatles’ music shines through in every performance and together they capture the Beatles sound 100% live. When all of this collides, it results in the best music ever made being performed with the spontaneity, energy, excitement and respect which this iconic sound deserves. It won’t surprise you to read that the boys became the first Beatles tribute band to have played at the Cavern more times than The Beatles. The original Fab Four clocked up 292 performances there.
If you only see one Beatles concert this year, you’d better ensure it’s this one. This is going to be a magical evening with The Mersey Beatles back in the town where they were born celebrating the 50th anniversary of the spectacular album. The beautiful Epstein Theatre is the ideal venue for this special performance and the evening is sure to be a fitting tribute to the band that captured the hearts of so many, The Beatles.
Epstein Theatre General Manager, Rebekah Pichilingi, commented, “The Mersey Beatles have proved time and time again to be the best Beatles tribute act there is. Their performance at The Epstein will be the perfect way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic albums in the history of music, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
