I AM NOT A ZIMMER FRAME
OR A LEANING POST…
Breathe easy, calm the old spirits and wheel
gently away and leave the person
so in love with my handlebars
that they could not stop fondling them,
caressing with deepening fingers
or leaning so heavily upon them
that like an irate
and unwanted suitor
I was getting more aware of their
jiggling up and down and heavy handed
strokes as each moment passed.
It’s not that hard at the end of the day
to understand the personal space
does not stop at my spine
but goes onto encompass the wheels
and the handlebars as well.
I am not a toy to be played with,
a space hopper to bounce around a room
and have people of my generation
remember the 70s with a smile,
wow a fully grown with wheels,
don’t tell everyone,
they would all want a set
in their Christmas stockings,
the new must have,
wheelchair user with extra bounce,
think I will wait till next year when they don’t cost as much
to keep or maintain.
I am not a zimmer frame or a public leaning post,
And I certainly am not a Space Hopper.
