Talented young performers will “light up the sky like a flame” when they star in Fame the Musical at The Epstein Theatre this semester.
LHK Youth Theatre will showcase the region’s hottest new talent with their production of Fame on Friday, 8th July and Saturday, 9th July.
Fame is one of the world’s most loved musicals based on the 1980 hit musical film starring Irene Cara and featuring the famous title song.
The plot follows a group of students across the acting, dancing and music faculties from 1980-1984 as they learn to master their craft and grow up alongside each other. Find out what happens to the fame-obsessed Carmen, ambitious actress Serena, wisecracking comedian/bad boy Joe, quiet violinist Schlomo, talented but dyslexic dancer Tyrone, determined actor Nick, overweight dancer Mabel and poor dancer Iris.
The production features all the classic hits from the musical including Hard Work, I Want to Make Magic, There She Goes/Fame, Let’s Play a Love Scene and Bring on Tomorrow, Teacher’s Argument, Mabel’s Prayer, Think of Meryl Streep, Dancin’ on the Sidewalk and These Are My Children.
LHK Youth Theatre has certainly put a lot of Hard Work into the show. The region’s leading youth arts organisation, LHK Youth Theatre has nurtured the talent of thousands of young people over the past decade and previous members have gone on to become television stars, West End performers and entertain on cruise ships worldwide!
Epstein Theatre General Manager Rebekah Pichilingi commented, “We look forward to welcoming the region’s hottest young talent to the Epstein. There are some exceptional performers starring in this magical musical which will take you back to the 80s with the hit songs from the unforgettable film. The show also boasts energetic choreography, amazing acting and sensational singing.
“One thing’s for sure, after such a fabulous performance, the audience are bound to remember their names…”
