Katie Melua has announced a winter tour with the Gori Women’s Choir and will come to Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall on Tuesday 29th November.
For this very special winter concert series, multi award-winning recording artist Katie Melua is joined on stage by the 23-piece Gori Women’s Choir.
Masters of the ancient Georgian tradition of polyphonic singing, Gori Women’s Choir are described by Melua as a ‘completely unique vocal orchestra’. Together they will perform new material from Melua’s forthcoming recording project as well as a selection of classic songs from her six album catalogue.
“The last 18 months of working with Gori Women’s Choir in Georgia has been so inspiring. I am immensely looking forward to performing with them across the UK and Europe this winter.” Katie Melua said.
Gori Women’s Choir was founded in 1970 at Gori’s School of Music, and is lead and conducted by Teona Tsiramua. Georgian polyphonic singing has been designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Tickets are on sale from Friday 4th March from the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool.
