St Helens Theatre Royal invites audiences to a nostalgia party extravaganza as the legendary That’ll Be The Day returns with its brand new 30th anniversary special on Thursday, 4th February.

That’ll Be The Day is all about recreating nostalgia with live entertainment, reflecting the music and tone of an era that changed the course of music history and youth culture forever. The nation’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll variety spectacular features a fantastic line-up of knock-out hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s, as well as side-splitting comedy!

Incredibly, the show is now in its 30th year of touring and St. Helens Theatre Royal can’t wait to welcome all to help celebrate the birthday party of the year.

Originally established on the cabaret circuit in the late 1980s, the show began playing regional theatres in the early 1990s. Now it performs over 200 shows a year to capacity audiences across the U.K.

Trevor Payne, the original director of the show, still directs, produces and stars in the production today. Trevor rewrites all the material for the show each year, and over six months is taken in planning and preparation.

That’ll Be The Day is renowned for its work with worthy causes, particularly Childline, Help For Heroes and more recently Make A Wish U.K. This special charity grants magical wishes to children and young people aged 3-17 fighting life-threatening conditions. Wishes can range from being a princess for the day, meeting a hero or going on a once in a lifetime holiday. In just its first year of collecting, That’ll Be The Day is delighted to have raised over £70,000 in donations for Make A Wish UK from its truly generous audiences across the U.K.
