Waterloo’s Write Blend To Welcome Historian And Author David Ebsworth This February.

On  Thursday 11th February, Historian and Author David Ebsworth will be giving insights into the battle that defined British fortunes on the continent and the moment in which Europe was freed from the yoke of oppression laid down by the machinations and ideals of the early 19th Century. A war that ended in Waterloo and was for almost a century widely regarded as The Great War and which signalled the end in many ways the military rivalry between Britain and France, a war which brought to life the senselessness of such campaigns, at least for a short while.

David Ebsworth will be appearing at Write Blend on South Road, Waterloo and as he points out in his book The Battle of Waterloo, not all is what it seems when it comes to looking at a war that many claim as a British victory, that the perceived truth taught to generations in schools is in many ways evidence blown out of rumour and conjecture, ways in which propaganda manages to make myths out of men and nations.

Stories of the 50,000 men who became denture doners at the Battlefield, amputations and the overlooked fact that women fought in the final encounter of a bloody and terrifying war; all will become clear at David Ebsworth’s talk of Waterloo.

Tickets for this prestigious event are priced at £2 and are available from Write Blend, support for Mr. Ebsworth will come from Brenda Murray and will start promptly at 19:30pm.

Write Blend can be contacted by telephone on 0151 9281303 or vua E-mail on writeblend@gmail.com.
