Met Baritone And Rising Opera Star Heads To Liverpool’s St. George’s Hall.

Following the huge success and standing ovation of the recent Ekaterina Lekhina the debut concert of Liverpool Opera Four Seasons, a member of the new opera star generation, Yunpeng Wang gives a concert at St George’s Hall on Sunday 24th January 2016.

The extraordinary, Chinese born baritone began the 2014-2015 season with his debut at the Metropolitan Opera. Yunpeng Wang was introduced by the most significant opera newspapers and on the cover of the October edition of Opera News as a rising opera star.

In 2015, he made his role debut as Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing and returned to the Rossini Opera Festival as Filippo in a new production of La Gazzetta in Pesaro, Italy.

In 2014 he appeared in The Metropolitan Opera’s Summer Recital Series, and made his debut in Italy as Don Profondo in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims at the Teatro Rossini after attending the Accademia Rossiniana in the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy.

Co-founder of the Liverpool Opera Four Seasons, the well-known Hungarian actor Gyula Mesterházy said, “First of all we are so thankful for the hundreds of congratulatory letters and phone calls by the audience following our first event. We are delighted to announce Yunpeng Wang in our second concert in the series and also that the special guest will be the Europe-wide famous soprano Ingrid Kertesi. The celebrated artist sings in the Comic Opera in Berlin, the Wiener Staatsoper and lead soprano of the Budapest Opera among others. The well-known Liverpool pianist, David Walters will again be the accompanist for the concert.”

Yunpeng Wang gives a number of concerts worldwide and has been invited as special guest of many Plácido Domingo’s concerts among others. The young artist received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from The Manhattan School of Music He is the recipient of several awards, including three prizes at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition: the 2nd Prize, the Zarzuela Prize, and the Audience Award.
