Following a sold out tour last year, Grammy Award winning Michael Bolton will return to the U.K., including a night at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in April 2016 to perform his greatest hits and for the very first time a selection of songs from his new album celebrating music from the movies.
Apart from nine No.1 singles, selling more than 60 million records worldwide and receiving countless other honours, Michael has written songs with musicians from Bob Dylan to Lady Gaga and penned hits recorded by stars such as Barbra Streisand, Cher, Kiss and Kanye West/Jay-Z. Michael was recently featured in the Emmy nominated Saturday Night Live video ‘Jack Sparrow’ that went on to become a viral sensation racking up over 140 million views to date and currently has a television series in development with ABC for a scripted comedy in which he would star.
Michael recently released his memoir, The Soul of It All: My Music My Life in which he offers a backstage pass into a fascinating life journey from anonymity to a world-renowned music career. He remains committed to humanitarian causes, especially through the Michael Bolton Charities as well as other social and political organisations.
If that wasn’t enough, Michael Bolton also just completed a documentary film entitled Gotta Keep Dreamin’ about the 21st Century Renaissance of Detroit. His last studio album, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough: A Tribute to Hitsville USA, which reached No3 on the Billboard R&B chart, was an authentic approach to Motown and soulful classics, as well as original songs written in the same vein.
Michael’s brand new tour follows the concept of music and movies. As well as performing his greatest hits, he will be performing beloved songs from the soundtracks of iconic films such as The BodyGuard, Casablanca, Stand by Me, Risky Business, The Wizard of Oz and many more.
Michael said, “I’m thrilled to be coming back to the U.K. in April. My fans have been so supportive and it’s one of my favourite places to tour. I’m also looking forward to working with SJM again, who did an amazing job promoting last year’s sold out tour. We have a few surprises this time around, with some music from the new album and special guests that I’m excited to share with everyone.”
One of the U.K.’s most loved singer-songwriters Gabrielle will be joining Michael as special guest on the nationwide tour. As well as selling 10 million records Gabrielle has received a number of awards during her glittering 20 year career. She has won two Brit Awards for Best Newcomer in 94 and Best Female in 97. She was also awarded an Ivor Novello in 2008 for Outstanding Song Collection which include her number 1 single Rise to Dreams, Out Of Reach, Sunshine and If You Ever.
Ticketsfor Michael Bolton’s tour go on sale Friday 16th October and the night in Liverpool on Saturday 30th April are available to purchase from the Philharmonic Hall Box office.
