Former Coronation Street actress Judy Holt takes to the stage in The Box of Tricks at the Lantern Theatre in Liverpool on 31st October. Judy, who also plays ‘Scary Mary Jackson’ in I.T.V.’s cop-drama Scott and Bailey, will be performing alongside fellow actors Samuel Thompson and Ryan Clayton.
Judy said, “I am delighted to be working with Pagelight again on this reworked version of The Box of Tricks, after the successful run at the 24:7 Festival last summer. I am looking forward to the tour and sharing our work in a variety of venues.”
The Box of Tricks thrilled audiences at Manchester’s 24:7 Theatre Festival and has been extensively re-written for the tour. It is an emotional play about the complex relationship between two brothers from Yorkshire and their Aunt, and has already been nominated for two awards.
The play, written by co-writers Stephen M. Hornby and Ric Brady, received Arts Council funding to tour the play across seven venues in the North of England this autumn.
Ric Brady said, “The 24:7 Theatre Festival was a fantastic opportunity for audiences in Manchester to see our play. We cannot wait to bring the play to audiences in other towns and cities.”
These seven venues include: Martin Harris Centre in Manchester on 25th September; The Mill at the Pier in Wigan on 21st October; Seven Arts Centre in Leeds on 23rd October; Oldham Library on 28th October; Lantern Theatre in Liverpool on 31st October; The Swan in Dobcross on 25th November and The Kings Arms in Salford on 27th and 28th November.
