L.A. based musician and songwriter Alexx Calise, the woman behind such musically enlightening and dramatic solo albums such as In Avanti and Morning Pill and one half of the tremendous team that put together the sensational No Vampires In Gilroy, has always been an independent and forthright woman. For the past ten years she has managed to pursue the craft and technique of writing songs that not only hit home with the force of an arrow splitting apart a bull’s eye but also get under the skin of how music in the West Coast can capture the soul with beautiful intensity.
As a completely independent artist, Alexx Calise has managed to put before her fans music with no interference from any label but she also suffered from the lack of P.R. that her work demands. As Ms Calise is at great pains to stress though “It’s been a tough road, but what ultimately gets me through it is my love for what I do, and ultimately, you: the fans. They have proven to me through all of their wonderful, heartfelt fan videos, covers, and encouraging notes on social media that they see value in what I do, and I want to be able to keep producing music for you all to enjoy (because that is my greatest joy).
For the first time in her career, Ms. Calise is putting aside, what she calls pride, and asking her fans to help fund her new upcoming solo album Addition By Subtraction which is being produced the Grammy-nominated Warren Huart.
Alexx Calise continues, “No man is an island, and in order to get to the next level, you need a great team behind you. I’m asking all of you to be on my team. As an indie artist with limited means, I absolutely cannot do this without you. I’m estimating that I’ll need about $30,000 or more to offset some of the recording costs I’ve incurred, as well cover the CD duplication costs, t-shirt production, graphic design costs, music video shoots, and an adequate PR campaign (and possible touring if I can!)
